Island Layout
Velaa Private Island occupies a rounded island in Noonu Atoll, wrapped by beach and water villas with a lush, landscaped interior. Beach Pool Villas and Beach Pool Houses line the eastern and southern shore, while the water villas extend on two arms to the northwest: Sunset Water Pool Villas on one, Sunrise Water Pool Villas on the other. Standalone private residences sit in the most secluded positions around the island.
At the heart of the island is the golf academy designed by Jose Maria Olazabal, alongside the sports facilities, wellness pavilions and the landmark Tavaru tower. Two arrival pavilions, north and south, and the watersports and dive centre handle transfers and the house reef. Velaa is reached in 45 minutes by seaplane from Velana International Airport, or 15 minutes from Maafaru International Airport in Noonu Atoll.

Beachfront: Beach Pool Villas (287 sqm) and larger Deluxe Beach Pool Villas (313 sqm) line the shore, with seven expansive Beach Pool Houses (581 sqm) for more space.
Overwater: Sunset Water Pool Villas (245 sqm) face west for sunsets, while Sunrise Water Pool Villas (223 sqm) sit on the opposite arm for morning light, both on their own jetties over the lagoon.
Residences: The Ocean Pool House, the Romantic Pool Residence and four Velaa Private Residences (up to 1,324 sqm), shown on the map as the Funa, Nirolhu, Nika and Kuredhi Residences, offer the highest levels of space and privacy for families and buyouts.

Velaa’s four restaurants and three bars include the signature Tavaru tower restaurant and wine cellar, the Aragu signature restaurant with the Cru Champagne Bar, Athiri, the Faiy Restaurant and the Avi Pool Bar. Wellness centres on the Velaa Spa, home to the only snow room in the Maldives, alongside the Yoga and Pilates Pavilion and Eveylaa Wellbeing. The nine-hole Velaa Golf Academy by Olazabal, managed by Troon, sits at the island’s heart, with tennis, padel, squash and watersports giving Velaa one of the widest activity offerings of any Maldives resort.
