Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi has 11 distinct restaurants, one of the largest dining collections in the country. The signature venue is Terra, the only private bamboo treetop dining pods in the Maldives. Other highlights include Zuma (the brand’s first entirely overwater restaurant), Li Long (Chinese, with the Maldives’ first wood-fired Peking duck oven), and The Ledge by Dave Pynt, led by the Michelin-starred chef behind Singapore’s Burnt Ends.
Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi has built one of the most extensive and genuinely varied dining programmes in the Maldives — 11 restaurants across three private islands, spanning treetop dining nests, an overwater Japanese icon, and a Michelin-starred grill. Here is our complete, restaurant-by-restaurant guide to what is actually on offer.
Every restaurant, explained
The resort’s most distinctive dining experience, and the only private hand-crafted bamboo dining pods in the Maldives — seven nests perched above the horizon. The gastronomic menu draws on some of the world’s finest ingredients, including Miyazaki Wagyu beef and Alba white truffle, paired with an extensive wine list and the resort’s signature Krug Champagne, curated by the first Krug Ambassador in the Maldives.
The Maldives outpost of the globally acclaimed Zuma brand, and its first-ever floating restaurant — an entirely overwater Zuma, with interiors designed in-house rather than adapted from another location. The menu showcases contemporary izakaya-style Japanese cooking: robata grills, sushi and signature Zuma creations, set against uninterrupted Indian Ocean views.
Inspired by traditional Shanghainese noble residences, Li Long serves modern Chinese cuisine centred on Peking duck roasted in the Maldives’ first classic wood-fired oven. A private dining room offers a more intimate, club-like Shanghainese atmosphere, paired with a specialty Chinese tea collection.
Created by Dave Pynt of Burnt Ends, a Michelin-starred restaurant in Singapore, The Ledge brings Burnt Ends’ celebrated modern Australian barbecue style to the Maldives. By day it is a relaxed poolside lunch spot; by night it transforms into an intimate grill restaurant built around live fire.
A healthy, holistic take on Mediterranean cuisine, built around the garden-to-table concept with seasonal ingredients, some harvested directly from the island’s own edible garden.
The resort’s beach club and social hub, set along the Lagoon Pool and Mirror Pool stretching down the white sand. A lively daytime venue with live music featured through the week.
A cave-like wine cellar and private dining outlet, often paired with seafood barbecue — an atmospheric, date-worthy setting distinct from anything else on the island.
The main all-day venue: a lavish international breakfast buffet with live cooking stations spanning Maldivian specialties to European pastries, transforming into a beachside dinner venue by evening.
A relaxed Champagne bar with sweeping Indian Ocean views, built for watching the sunset over the water.
A serene ocean-view lounge with live music, known for hand-crafted, barrel-aged signature cocktails paired with wines and tapas — a day-to-night gathering spot.
