Soneva Fushi has around 14 dining concepts, more than almost any other resort in the Maldives. The signature experience is Flying Sauces, a treetop restaurant reached by zipline. Other highlights include the overwater Sobah (Modern Japanese/Vietnamese/Indonesian/Thai), an intimate five-seat hinoki sushi counter, open-air teppanyaki, and three complimentary 24-hour treat rooms for ice cream, chocolate and cheese. Breakfast is included with every stay; the Soneva Unlimited plan covers all dining as an all-inclusive upgrade.
No resort in the Maldives — arguably no resort anywhere — approaches dining quite like Soneva Fushi. With roughly a dozen distinct restaurants plus three all-day treat rooms, the hardest part of a stay is simply deciding where to eat next. Here is our complete, restaurant-by-restaurant guide to what is actually on offer in Baa Atoll.
Every restaurant, explained
The world’s first fine-dining zipline restaurant, and Soneva Fushi’s single most talked-about experience. Guests glide along a 200-metre zipline route through the jungle canopy to reach an open-air treetop dining platform 12 metres above the ground, with panoramic views over the forest and the Indian Ocean. The kitchen regularly hosts a rotating residency of Michelin-starred guest chefs from around the world, so the menu changes throughout the year. Capacity is intimate — a maximum of 8 guests by day and 16 in the evening.
An overwater dining pavilion led by Chef Sobah, serving a contemporary menu that spans Modern Japanese, Vietnamese, Indonesian and Thai cuisine. The wine list runs to roughly 250 varieties of magnums, alongside an extensive by-the-glass and sake selection — one of the more serious wine programmes at the resort.
A five-seat counter built from sake-polished hinoki wood, where master sushi chefs — Chef Akira among them — prepare omakase-style sushi at close quarters. It is one of the smallest, most personal dining experiences on the island, and frequently singled out by returning guests and visiting chefs alike as a highlight.
An open-air teppanyaki table on the waterfront, where Chef Hiroshi Saiki grills and performs for a small audience of just 10 guests per sitting, set against unobstructed views of Baa Atoll.
Set on the sunrise side of the island, Down to Earth follows a purist, nature-led cooking philosophy across an international and South Asian menu. It also houses two live-cooking sub-concepts: the Pasta Counter, a circular station where a chef prepares fresh handmade pasta daily surrounded by day beds, and a charcoal grill concept cooking at roughly 750°C to lock in flavour on meats, seafood and vegetables.
Taking its name from the Dhivehi phrase meaning "here it is," this beachside pavilion is the first stop of most guests’ stay. Open-air breakfast spreads include Indian and Asian classics — hoppers, dosa, dim sum, noodle soups — alongside wood-fired pizzas through the day and curated buffet evenings on select nights.
Dining set above Soneva Fushi’s own organic gardens, where herb aromas drift up from the beds below. The à la carte menu and tasting menus are built directly around what the gardens are producing that season — as garden-to-table as dining gets.
The complimentary treat rooms
Beyond the restaurants, Soneva Fushi keeps three indulgence rooms open all day, included in every stay:
How dining plans work
Every rate at Soneva Fushi includes breakfast. For guests who want everything covered, the Soneva Unlimited plan is the resort’s all-inclusive upgrade — it covers all dining concepts, beverages from the extensive wine cellar, excursions, spa treatments and more, making it one of the most comprehensive all-inclusive packages available in the Maldives. Guests on other meal plans typically receive a daily dining credit that can be applied across most restaurants, with a small number of the most exclusive experiences (such as certain Flying Sauces sittings) charged separately.
Our Niche Getaways specialists can confirm exactly which plan suits your trip and pre-book the hardest-to-secure tables — including a Flying Sauces reservation — before you arrive.
